Artist talk with Anastasia Pavlou and Kathrin Bentele

Artist talk Anastasia Pavlou image

On the occasion of the group exhibition Passages, we warmly invite you to a conversation with Anastasia Pavlou and Kathrin Bentele. In Pavlou’s practice, which oscillates between painting and drawing, notions of time and process play a central role. In conversation with Kathrin Bentele, Pavlou will talk about her experimental practice of recent years, in which she explores ways and possibilities to consider painting less as an object, but rather as an event, a performance, or a rehearsal. The fleeting nature of the moment thus becomes an essential quality of her work. Following the exhibitions’ proposal to look at the relationship between the emergence and dissolution of form, the conversation will also touch upon the tensions between material ephemerality and permanence in Pavlou’s work, among other things.

Anastasia Pavlou (1993, Athens, GR) lives and works in Basel, CH. Her recent exhibitions include Kunsthaus Langenthal (2026); Atelier Amden, Amden (2025); Hot Wheels, Athens (2025, 2023); Ba- lice Hertling, Paris (2024); KunstRaum Riehen, Riehen (2024); SALTS, Basel (2024); Kunstmuseum Appenzell, Appenzell (2024) or Kunsthaus Baselland, Basel (2023).
