Mira M. Yang in conversation with Filipa Ramos
We’re delighted to invite you to a conversation between Mira M. Yang and Filipa Ramos, taking place on Saturday, October 10, at 4pm.
The conversation is conceived in the context of Mira M. Yang’s exhibition Ensemble and draws from Yang and Ramos’s shared interests in aspects of memory, time, history, and the act of looking, as well as from their longstanding engagement with the work of the French filmmaker Chris Marker (1921–2012). The exhibition offers a point of departure to discuss the more-than-human as a generative dimension of Mira M. Yang’s recent work: As the works in Ensemble treat human movement as a score, they blur the distinction between what is human and what is not.
Mira M. Yang is a visual artist based in Paris. Their work has been staged and exhibited at Manifesta16 Ruhr Biennial (2026); Busan Biennale, Busan (2026); Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn (2026); King’s Leap, New York (2026); Musée de l’Art et de l’Histoire, Geneva (2025); The Jewish Museum of Belgium, Brussels (2025); Drei, Cologne (2025); Klosterruine, Berlin (2024); 15th Gwangju Biennial, Gwangju (2024); IMAI Foundation, Düsseldorf (2024); Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Düsseldorf (2024); Fondation Fiminco & Frac Ile de France, Romainville/Paris (2024); CAN Foundation, Seoul (2023); or Galerie Max Mayer, Düsseldorf (2022) among others. A second chapter of Ensemble, currently on view at the Kunsthalle Friart Fribourg, will be presented at the Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris in November 2026.
Filipa Ramos, PhD, is a writer and curator whose long-term research investigates art’s relationship to ecology. She is particularly interested in animals and time-based media. Ramos teaches at the Institute Art Gender Nature at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel and is curator of the Lofoten International Art Festival (2027) and co-curator of the Bergen Assembly (2028) with Lucia Pietroiuisti, with whom she founded the arts, humanities and science festival The Shape of a Circle in the Mind of a Fish (2018-onwards). Ramos’ recent projects include BESTIARI, the Catalan representation at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024); Songs for the Changing Seasons for the 1. Klima Biennale Wien (2024); and the 8th Biennale Gherdëina Persons Personen (2022) (both with Pietroiusti). In 2021, she co-curated Bodies of Water, the 13th Shanghai Biennale. Her most recent book, The Artist as Ecologist (2025), discusses the ways in which contemporary artists embrace environmentalism.
