ÉTAT DES LIEUX
To mark our tenth anniversary in the year 2000 and everyone’s entry into the Third Millennium, we decided to give the Centre of contemporary art an even greater opening. The outcome is a special program called État des lieux, aiming to set up an inventory of the various aspects of current art.

Going against established practice, we decided to invite guest curators and ask them to take stock of what is happening in art now, with a view to describing the present and outlining the future. The project broke down into four events-exhibitions – four inventories – spread out over the entire year.

These État des lieux, events or exhibitions circumscribed in space and time, bring together artists in the broad meaning of the term, who focus on the concerns of the guest curators. Their job is to establish lines of communication between the various forms of thought for which art is the medium. Each of these presentations is a statement by the curator, expressive of his or her convictions.

POWERSOURCES, BY HARM LUX

The exhibition will be a project in which we leave our, timebased, being always reachable society behind, leaving the Mobilphone One Persons behind.

The exhibition is a mix between a human mankind related fairytale. it shows the strength, the energy of falling in love, it shows the energy which we pickup through discovering new horizons. The exhibition has also a kind of mystical and nature related side. But both one do not depend on “mind-constructions”, again does it offer you the possibility to dream a way, to step out of our time… not thinking, not feeling immediately the necessity to reflect, to understand the work, looking at it enjoying it, feeling immediately the necessity to reflect, to understand the work. Looking at it, enjoying it, is- at the moment that you are in the show- enough… reflection comes later.

And, of course do create also perfect balance, bring work into the project which uses the literature of the brothers Strugatskis as reference, a doom is always part of it. A balance between fairytale and doom atmosphere.

The exhibition is taking place in Espace Landi, Rue de l’Industrie.
