Wang Du

  • Wang Du

The exhibition is curated by Michel Ritter

We can consider the work of Wang Du, who chooses the media sphere for field of investigation, as a second reading and a criticism of information, subject of our daily reality. This reality, conveyed by the mass medias, relates to various facts as well as specific events of our society.

The media manipulates reality at different degrees, while taking benefit of the constant expansion of the communication which generates a superabundance of images in continuous flow. From this material, the artist can choose the strong visuals and transform them into three-dimensional colored photo-objects. He keeps of them the framing and the deformations due to the objective giving to the result a kitsch aspect, not very serious. However, in spite of the extravagance of the images, one sees that the artist questions himself on their value and proposes to us a true criticism of the media by the media.
