After Midnight

  • Rabih Mroué

The exhibition is curated by Balthazar Lovay, Cis Bierinckx

For his first Swiss solo exhibition, a collaboration between Friart and the Belluard Bollwerk International Festival, Lebanese artist Rabih Mroué (*1967) has hand-picked a number of his recent works which explore how subjective and collective narratives, coupled with the media, influence the construction of historical accounts.

Rabih Mroué belongs to the generation of Lebanese artists who came to prominence in the immediate period after the official end of the civil war in 1990. As well as being a stage and film director, script-writer and actor – starring most notably alongside Catherine Deneuve in Je veux voir, a film by Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige – Rabih Mroué is a visual artist whose work includes video, photography and installation art.
