The body, vehicle of communication, could be the common denominator of this exhibition joining together artists who privilege the medium of photography. The body taken as subject, but also as object. Object of the representation, which lets appear the limits between the private and the public, the life and the art, which can be desire and/or suffering. The body which is the main subject of our image and our identification in the world, is there to point out all the laws of the matter to us. It is however very difficult to leave there to communicate with the other human entities which are however similar to ours.

This exhibition also tends to show various forms of possible expression around the same subject. Progressively with its preparation, it appeared that the approximate artists were all women. Thereafter, this observation became a principle. Why not? It would seem that women are freer to express themselves with the body, but nothing is sure. The choice carried out for this exhibition is not exhaustive and these variations on a subject however known shows well its complexity. It is however possible to become aware of a range of the various communication systems, but it depends on the sensitivity of each artist – Sarah Jones, Elke Krystufek, Natacha Lesueur, Marianne Müller and Francesca Woodman – and touching each time various feelings, compared to the same subject.
