The Centre of contemporary art Fribourg sets up, in collaboration with the Belluard Festival, a presentation of artists whose performances will take place in the last week of the 1991 edition (under the artistic direction of Boris Nieslony). An exhibition with their artworks is visible from June 16 to July 21 at Fri-Art.
Terry Fox presents a realization conceived in 1987 for Documented 8 of Kassel entitled The School of Velocity. It is about a play with the partitions and the warning signals (Horns) of cars from various European countries. Each partition restores a different language which is then translated into international Morse code.
BKH Gutmann presents a piece made of 54 elements, partly composed of photographs and texts in Braille, entitled Trans (inspires) coming from THE MAP/Share III, C.D. West.
Rolf Langebartels presents a photographic work whose principal topic is the illusion of various prospects produced by the reproduction of photographs, by adding elements which do not form part of the initial context.
Boris Nieslony, a German artist and performer, is responsible for the artistic direction of the last week of the Belluard Festival and brought together the artists showing at the Centre of contemporary art. He presents at Fri-Art two installations which are closely dependent from each other. The first, composed of tissues tied up, egg, bucket, egg of crystal, etc., is attached to the political life, whereas the other refers in an eloquent way to the people victims of violent deaths.
Ralf Samens carries out a sculpture whose dust is the transitory support. It should be noted that this static work is the combination of several elements used during the last ten years and that it represents a provisional synthesis.
