The exhibition of the Centre of contemporary art is a summary of the entire work which preoccupies Luc Deleu and the T.O.P. Office since more than twenty years. The majority of the work presented in the form of models, drawings and photographs, is recent. The main developed topics are Recycling, the Layout of the TGV and Scale and prospect.
For the topic of Recycling, he established the plans of the “Hef” – a railroad bridge – in Rotterdam, intended to disappear. In a first project, he had planned to transform into a “sky plaza” with the registry offices in a new and smooth volume, allowing a definitive integration of the “Hef” in the city and its population.
The reflexion on the situation of the TGV network is illustrated by two examples, models and drawings, of the stations of Brussels and Utrecht. He thus imagined making the TGV enter into Brussels by a gigantic bridge, crossing the city and discovering an imposing prospect. In Utrecht, he developed the project of a TGV station dominating a platform for taxis and bus, which in turn is projected above the old station. He also profited of the occasion to reorganize the natural grounds to the benefit of the pedestrians.
For the topic Scale and prospect, Luc Deleu uses familiar objects (cranes, standard lamps of public highway or pylons for cables with high voltage) as a Ready made that will reveal conceptual dimension by their space handling only, namely their change of orientation from the vertical to the horizontal.
