La cour des grands
Kiefer Hablitzel | Göhner Art Prize 2021

  • Monika Emmanuelle Kazi

Monika Emmanuelle Kazi was awarded the Kiefer Hablitzel | Göhner Art Prize 2021 for Swiss artists under the age of 30. Her work draws on an incarnated body memory related to her diasporic experience.

The artist transposes memories interlacing the personal with the global, through the mediums of writing, installation and performance. She explores the emotional load of objects of a no-longer-existent everyday, of movements, matter, architecture, as porous areas of contact, traces of changing histories.

In her installation at Friart, she immerses us in a space in which home and the elsewhere, or the ages of life express their differences in the way they relate. In the exhibition, a board game becomes both a metaphor for the meeting of opposites but also the emblem of the poetic distribution of chance, which informs fates.

A publication will be released in the context of the exhibition.
